Scenario S-1 — the scene

The scene

It is Tuesday, 10:15 in the morning, day shift at Perry Industries. A Tyrell Chemical Distributors tank truck, placarded CORROSIVE with 2672, is unloading Polyjuice Base, 25% ammonia solution, into tank T-2 at the ammonia unloading pad on the east side of Perry's Awesomeness Factory, Building B. A Perry operator is attending the delivery. The 3-inch unloading hose fails at the coupling on the truck valve. The driver hits the truck emergency stop. He was splashed on the face and neck and is standing by his cab. About 150 gallons are already on the curbed pad, running toward the sump, and the hose is still draining at the coupling. There is a strong ammonia smell at the pad. The operator has backed off to the west and is coughing. AD-4 is in alarm in the control room. It is 78 degrees, partly cloudy, with the wind out of the south at 8 miles an hour.
