This DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation course provides required training compliant with DOT standards under 49 CFR 172.700-704, HM-126(f), HM-181, and HM-172.800 Subpart I. Designed specifically for general industry employees responsible for shipping, receiving, loading, unloading, or handling hazardous materials, this training meets DOT regulations for initial and recurrent training (required every 3 years).

Course topics covered include:

• General Awareness & Familiarization with DOT Hazardous Materials regulations.

• Identification and understanding of the Hazardous Materials Table.

• Proper marking and labeling requirements.

• Selection and use of proper shipping names.

• Hazard classification and packing group determination.

• Writing and managing accurate shipping papers (including ISHP system: Identification, Shipping Name, Hazard Class, Packing Group).

• Placarding requirements for hazardous materials.

• Correct load segregation practices.

• Understanding and applying DOT packaging codes.

• Transportation security awareness and security measures.

This course also outlines important regulatory agencies involved in hazardous materials transportation compliance, including:

• Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)

• Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

Participants will gain an understanding of emergency response protocols, incident reporting procedures, and penalties associated with non-compliance. Course documentation, including attendance records, training outlines, and relevant certificates, are maintained and accessible for audit and verification purposes.
