This 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher and Operations Level Training meets OSHA requirements under 29 CFR 1910.120, providing essential annual refresher training for general industry employees involved in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. This training is suitable both for workers completing their annual refresher and for those requiring initial defensive-level emergency response training.

Course Topics Include:

• Review and applicability of OSHA’s HAZWOPER standard (29 CFR 1910.120)

• Hazardous Communication (HazCom) programs and labeling requirements, including GHS labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

• Emergency response levels, responsibilities, and Incident Command System (ICS)

• Safety and health programs, including hazard identification and control

• Chemical hazard identification, including toxicology, exposure limits (PEL, IDLH), and physical and chemical properties

• Proper selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection

• Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and Incident Action Plans (IAP)

• Spill control procedures (ABCD method: Assess, Block, Control, Decontaminate)

• Hazard Zones (Hot, Warm, Cold) and site decontamination procedures

• Fire safety basics, including how to safely extinguish small fires

• Post-incident procedures, debriefing, and continuous improvement strategies
